on the sofa...
...are the robotington family. the big one is the birthday one and is off to it's destination tomorrow. i put them together so that you see the difference in size and i am planning to make some more of them soon. i am experimenting with different dying techniques and the size of the pattern. the first two robotingtons-the smaller ones were hand dyed in the sink with a brusho ink and are not water resistant. just like true robots they are allergic to water-another story to try and write i guess. its easier to come up with ideas naturally i find than to try and force them. anyhoo the bigger robot i hand dyed with some dylon cold fix and it took a lot of arm strength to dye this piece of cotton in the bath. i have just ordered a different dye to try as i would like a more blue grey colour than the pale grey of the bigger robot. i did see some dye in a shop that works in a washing machine but i ain't too keen on that techinque at the moment. of course you don't stick your washing in at the same time! that would be silly, very silly indeed. now the simple situation is to buy some cotton in the colour that i would like and i have bought some but the only stuff i could find was some grey cotton and now it looks like it is too dark a grey. we will see how it looks like when it is made into a robotington.
i am hoping to make some robotingtons to sell as soon as i have solved the colour problem. the big robot was a custom order and made specially as a birthday gift. in the meantime if you would like a custom made robot please feel free to email me with any questions etc at miss_dj020@msn.com.
hello...

...i am a new addition to the robotington family but i am moving away tomorrow to live with a new friend of mine. i am very special as i have been created as a birthday present and there is no other robotington quite like me. here i am sat on the sofa. i started life as a bright white piece of cotton and she hand dyed that with some grey cold fix dye stuff that she said was a nightmare to work with. then she left me for a bit while she phaffed around and i had a long comfy sleep for about three weeks or so. in time she got herself organised and started making me yesterday. she drew me out and ironed me edges in but it took her three attempts to sew one of me arms. i think the sewing machine has had enough of sewing twenty four seven. she took her time with sewing the rest of me today and only spent about fifteen minutes picking out the buttons. i have a sparkly blue twenty five number on me graph bit-i think that is to do with the birthday thing she told me about. it was very nice to meet you all and i hope i get to meet some of you soon.

floor full of teeth...

...here we are at last. properly this time. i am getting better at living in this big city. just pretend while you are reading this that the Sir David Attenbourough is narrating...here you can see seventeen tooth's sharing a joke while posing for the camera. the ladysnail woman sat and spent a weekend putting the last few together that she had left over from the packaging uni project. thank you Sir David for that bit of information. at the moment i am working towards a secret project and i am determined to work the hardest i can and we shall see if it will take off or not. that's all i can say without me building my hopes up at the moment.
